Norwegian Canning Museum

The museum is housed in an authentic cannery which was in operation from 1916 until 1958. Before that the building was a storage facility for canner, John Braadland. At the museum you can see how canned sprats and fishballs were produced, and get an impression of what the working environment of the factory was like.
The Norwegian Canning Museum has a large collection of items relating to the Norwegian canning industry. Our collections are designed to reflect the production equipment, and the products themselves, of the industry. We have, not least, machines, archive materials, technical drawings, cans and a label collection consisting of 35,000 different can labels!
